In 2014 Uganda became the first African nation to participate in the World Lacrosse Championships which took place in Denver, Colorado. In 2018, they participated in their second World Lacrosse Championships in Israel. For both of these games, they automatically qualified.
In November 2022, they made history when they beat Kenya by one point in triple overtime, 9-8, becoming the first African nation to OFFICIALLY QUALIFY for the World Lacrosse Championships. The World Lacrosse Championships will take place in June 2023 in San Diego, California.

- The experience of a lifetime for players
Providing an opportunity for young men who have most likely never traveled outside of their home country to represent Uganda on the world stage. Traveling abroad, and training/playing at such a high level will have a lifelong impact on these athletes. - Expansion of the sport in Uganda
International competitions garner a lot of interest and attention, encouraging players to train hard, and capturing the attention of a new generation of players in Uganda. - Potential for Lacrosse to be included in the 2028 Olympics
Uganda lacrosse programs continued growth and expansion perfectly position them to be in the running. The international experience will improve both the quality and competitiveness of the Ugandan team in the future.
